29.2.2.3 To get + préposition


Il y a beaucoup d' expressions idiomatiques du genre to get + prépositon. On ne peut alors pas traduire en général par devenir. Il faut souvent changer complètement la structure de la phrase. Vous pouvez trouver autres constructions de ce genre dans le chapitre verbes avec prépositions.

  across traverser He got across the street in only a second.
  ahead avancer They always wanted to get ahead.
  along s' entendre bien Cats and dogs do not get along.
  around passer My neighbour got around for a cup of tea.
  at se rendre compte de la vérité Finally, we got at the truth.
  away s' en aller They were looking for him, but he got away.
  back rencontrer I left my keys in the bar, but I got them back.
  by se débrouiller She has not much money, but she gets by.
  down (to business) parler sérieusement Let us get down to business.
  down (in writing) mettre sur papier Did you get it down in writing?
  in entrer Hello! Get in!
  into avoir des difficultés He got into trouble last night.
  off descendre We got off the train at the last station.
  on (with) Get on with your work!
  onto monter We want to get onto the bus.
  out (of) sortir She said that he should get out of her kitchen.

  through vivre He got through some difficult times.
